Ed Robert Smith

Ed Robert Smith, Jr., 89, passed away on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at UNC Hospice in Pittsboro. Mr. Smith was born in Chatham County on February 4, 1932. He was the son of Ed Robert Smith, Sr. and Eva Hester Smith. Ed was a member of Loves Creek Baptist Church. He retired from Auto Systems of Ramseur and was also a retired farmer which he loved. In his earlier years, Ed enjoyed restoring a Model T which he still owned. Ed was an Army Veteran, serving in the Korean War and was stationed in Germany. Ed was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Carlene Williamson Smith; son, Ed Robert Smith, III and wife Ginger of Siler City. Mr. Smith will Lie in Repose on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 from 12:00-5:00 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at Loves Creek Baptist Cemetery, 1745 East 11th Street, Siler City with Rev. Kenny Black officiating. The family requests that no food be brought to the home.
