Donald Gordon Seals

Donald Gordon Seals, 62, of Siler City died Monday, March 14, 2016 at Duke University Medical Center, Durham, following a brief illness. Donald was born September 9, 1953 in Siler City, NC. He was the seventh child of Floyd McLean Seals and Nellie Strother Seals (Cole). He was educated in the Chatham County Schools graduating from Jordan Matthews High School in 1971. He attended NC State University, Raleigh, NC. Donald served six years in the US Navy Aircraft Carrier Division. During his time in the US Navy, he studied and worked in the IE Computer field. Following his discharge from the US Navy, he worked as an Information Technology Specialist for 32 years. prior to retiring in October, 2014. Don's interest included scuba diving, panning for gold, Star Trek and Sci-fi, his beloved Superbird and family meals. Don was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Larry Seals and step-father, Grady Cole. He is survived by four sisters: Karen Seals Gury (David) of Boca Raton, FL, Carol Seals Harris of Zebulon, NC, Sharon Seals Brookbank of Snow Camp, NC, Robin Seals James (Dirk) of Siler City, NC; two brothers: Mike Seals (Gayle) of Piedmont, SC, Jeff Seals of Charlotte, NC. In addition he is survived by many nieces and nephews; half brother, Eric Ensley of Franklin, NC; step-brothers, David Cole of Sophia, NC, Larry Cole of Walnut Cove, NC, Bobby Cole of Randleman, NC; lifelong friend, John Jabbusch (Susan) and God-daughter, Jennifer Jabbusch Minella. A memorial service will be held Friday, March 18, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home Chapel, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City with Rev. Tony Capehart officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, March 18, 2016 following the memorial service. A private interment of the ashes will be scheduled at a later date.
