Dean Wesley Overman, Sr.

Dean Wesley Overman, Sr. ,86, of Hwy 902, Bear Creek went home to be with his Lord on Friday, September 21, 2012. Mr. Overman was born in Randolph County on October 31, 1925, the son of John Wesley and Myrtle Hackney Overman. He loved his church and community, a member of Tyson's Creek Baptist Church and the Berean Sunday School Class. Mr. Overman was a retired farmer. He had a passion for the outdoors and was a good steward of the land. He enjoyed his work on the farm and continued gardening and tending his cattle up to the onset of his illness. He taught his children the value of hardwork and always led by example. He was a loving husband, father, PaPa, brother, neighbor and friend. His grandchildren and great-grandchild were precious to him and family times spent together will be memories we will all cherish. He is survived by his wife of 62 years: Nellie (Gray) Overman; three daughters: Carol Tucker of Siler City, NC, Judy Callicutt and husband, Johnny of Bear Creek, NC, Kay Brown and husband, Mike of Siler City, NC and one son: Dean W. Overman, Jr. and wife, Toni of Pittsboro, NC; two sisters: Hermis Overman of Staley, NC, Mary Alice Williamson and husband, Weldon of Ramseur, NC and one brother: Leon Overman of Siler City, NC; grandchildren, Angela Oldham and husband, Eric of Bennett, NC, Adam Tucker and wife, Ginna of Pleasant Garden, NC, Christopher Callicutt of Bear Creek, NC, Wesley Brown and Hannah Brown of Siler City, NC; great-grandson, Elijah Tucker of Pleasant Garden, NC. The family received friends Sunday, September 23, 2012 from 6:30-8:30 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. The funeral will be Monday, September 24, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Tyson's Creek Baptist Church, 10891 Siler City-Glendon Road, Bear Creek, NC with Rev. Scott Walker and Rev. Bob Wachs officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Liberty Health Care and Hospice, American Cancer Society, the Council on Aging or Tyson's Creek Baptist Church in his memory.
