Colleen Buckner Sykes

Mrs. Colleen Buckner Sykes, 95, passed peacefully Saturday evening, September 30, 2023, from Universal Healthcare in Ramseur, NC.

Colleen was born in Guilford County, NC March 30, 1928, to the late Ollie Fox and Aubrey W. Buckner.

She had a love for her faith, her family and farming as she could often be found working in the garden on her family’s 200-acre farm. Colleen was employed by Southern Bell Telephone Company for 35 years until she retired.

In addition to her parents, Colleen was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, John Frank and her husband of nearly 15 years, William “Jim” Sykes; her daughter, Vickie Boggs; her brother, Doyle Buckner; and her sister, Katy Buckner Brogdon.

Colleen is survived by her son, Jeffrey S. Frank of Siler City, NC; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Don Buckner of Greensboro, NC, Gilbert Buckner of Ramseur, Ed Buckner of Concord, NC, Ormand Buckner of Australia and Jerry Buckner of Greensboro; and her sister, Wanda Buckner Hicks of Wake Forest, NC.

A Funeral Service to honor her life and memory will be held 11am Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Rocky River Baptist Church, 4436 Siler City-Snow Camp Road, Siler City, NC. The family will receive friends and guests in the fellowship hall following the Committal Service. The Reverend Greg Burriss will preside.
