Clyde Atlas Dowd, Sr.

Clyde Atlas Dowd, Sr., 94, of Siler City, was born on November 5, 1927 to George D. and Myrtle Fields Dowd.  He went to his final rest on October 11, 2022 passing quietly at his home surrounded by family.

Mr. Dowd was an employee at Burlington Industries for over 45 years, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening in his spare time. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers Guy and Earl Dowd; wives Kathleen Bowers Dowd and Margaret Holt Dowd; and daughter-in-law Christy B. Dowd.

He is survived by his son Clyde A. "Buddy" Dowd, Jr. and wife Sharon of Siler City; brother Dewey Dowd and wife Inez of Siler City; sister-in-law Joann Dowd; grandsons Philip Dowd  and wife Maria of Beaufort, NC and Ryan Dowd and wife Yasmin of Holly Springs, NC; 4 great-grandchildren Fynley, Bryer, Baylor, and Cambry; step-son Tim Johnson and wife Katherine of Asheboro; step-grandaughters Kaysi and Lynsi; and step-great-grandson Canaan.

The family will receive friends Friday October 14, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m at Rives Chapel Baptist Church, 4338 Rives Chapel Church Road, and other times at the home of Buddy and Sharon, 190 Sam Fields Road. Funeral services for Mr. Dowd will follow at 11:00 am with Dr. Tripp Foltz officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
