Christine Warren Dark, 92, of Siler City died Sunday, September 16, 2018 at Chatham Hospital, Inc., Siler City.
Mrs. Dark was born on February 4, 1926 in Edgecombe County. She was the daughter of Julian B. and Christine (Stancill) Warren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lonnie Talton Dark, Jr; sister, Marcia Warren, and son-in-law, Phillip Grady.
Christine taught at Chatham Central High School, while there she was in-charge of the Junior-Senior Proms, which she and her husband enjoyed for many years She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the WMU. A loving mother who spent many hours as a Scout leader, Sunday School teacher, choir mom and many, many nights on the bleachers at Jordan Matthews. She continued to enjoy her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's activities. In more recent years, great joy was playing bridge- lots of bridge- with dear friends in Siler City.
Christine was a diehard Demon Deacon Fan. Christine was a graduate of East Carolina College and began her teaching career at Wake Forest and had served as secretary for Williams & Brower in Siler City.
She is survived by two daughters: Christina D. Grady of Hickory, NC, and Marcia D. Coreth and husband, Charles of Richmond, VA, one son: L. Talton Dark, III of Morganton, NC;
grandchildren, Kathryn Geitner and husband, John, Anna Noell and husband, Jay; Alexandra Coreth; and Christopher Coreth; great-grandchildren, William Noell, Ava Grace Noell, and Jack Geitner.
A memorial service will be held 2: 00 PM Thursday, September 20, 2018 at the First Baptist Church, 314 N. Second Avenue, Siler City, NC 2734, with Rev. Tony Capehart officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church sanctuary.
