Charlie Robert Moffitt

Charlie Robert Moffitt, 82, of 2516 Emerald Drive, Greensboro died Sunday, January 22, 2012 at Beacon Place Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro. Mr. Moffitt was born in Randolph County on February 8, 1929, the son of Ernest and Dovie (Craven) Moffitt. Mr. Moffitt was a graduate of Siler City High School where he played football. He had been a driver for Roadway Express, was a member of Teamsters Local 391 and a member of the NRA. He was an avid bowler, UNC Tar Heel fan and a member of the West Market Street United Methodist Church in Greensboro. Charlie was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Kerley Moffitt; his parents and brothers, Samuel and Haywood Moffitt. He is survived by two sons: Charlie R. Moffitt II and wife, Pamela of Stafford, VA, Richard A. Moffitt of Greensboro, NC three daughters: Yvonne Ore of Burlington, NC, Jennifer Moffitt of Pleasant Garden, NC, Sylvia Ann "Sam" Moffitt of Greensboro, NC; two sisters: Clara Mae Lackey and husband, Harry of Greensboro, NC, Norva Fisher of Bear Creek, NC; six grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Thursday, January 26, 2012 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. The funeral will be Friday, January 27, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home Chapel, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City with Rev. Bill Ellison officiating.
