Wilson Lemons, Sr., 95, of US Hwy 64 West, Siler City died Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at his residence.
Mr. Lemons was born in Chatham County on August 21, 1919 the son of John Milton and Lena (Covert) Lemons. He was an Army veteran of WWII, a dairy farmer, a member of Mount Vernon United Methodist Church and the Adult Sunday School Class. Wilson enjoyed NASCAR racing and taking his bird dogs quail hunting. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Johnnie and Doyle Lemons; sisters, Mozelle Clark and Alma Smith.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years: Wilma (Brooks) Lemons, daughter: Janice Jarvis and husband, Robert of Greensboro, NC; sons: Steve Lemons and wife, Deborah, Larry Lemons and wife, Patricia, Charlie Wilson "Buddy" Lemons and wife, JoAnn, Mike Lemons and wife, Becky all of Siler City, NC; sisters: Barbara L. Elmore and husband, Curtis of Siler City, NC; brother, Hoyle Lemons and wife, Kathleen of Bonlee, NC; seventeen grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Thursday, September 18, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 PM. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. The funeral will be Friday, September 19, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Mount Vernon United Methodist Church, 3631 Mt. Vernon-Hickory Mountain Road, Siler City with Rev. Jason Dickerson officiating. Burial will follow in Chatham Memorial Park, Siler City with military rites by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
