Charles Herbert Stanford. Jr.

Charles Herbert Stanford, Jr., 81, of Julian died Saturday, December 27, 2014. Dr. Stanford was born April 8, 1933, the son of Charles Herbert and Bessie Rush Stanford, and was a native of Randolph County. Charles served in the US Army, managed numerous textile companies and owned a furniture factory. At the age of 65, he went back to school and earned his doctorates in divinity and psychology, as well as becoming an ordained minister. Charles is preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of 48 years, Margaret Judy Boling Stanford, and his brothers, Joseph and Paul Stanford. He is survived by two daughters: Adrienne Stanford Chafee and husband, Frank of Julian, NC, Susan Stanford Jankowski and husband, John of Garner, NC; grandchildren, Charles, Susan and Alicia Chafee, Sarah and Thomas Jankowski; brothers, William Stanford of Liberty, James Stanford of Greensboro, and sister, Betty Young of Liberty. The family will receive friends Sunday, December 28, 2014 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 29, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Harvest Baptist Church, 3741 South Church Street, Burlington with Rev. Larry Lamberth and Rev. Allen Filgo officiating.
