Cathy Gaines York

Cathy Gaines York, 45, of East Raleigh Avenue, Liberty died Monday, July 4, 2016 at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro after a courageous battle with cancer. Mrs. York was born in Chatham County on April 19, 1971 the daughter of Eddie and Elaine (Teague) Gaines. Cathy was a member of Rocky River Baptist Church where she worked in the nursery. She was a 1989 graduate of Jordan Matthews High School and a 1991 graduate of Central Carolina Community College with an associate degree in business. She had been employed with Wells Fargo Bank as a teller, had previously worked at South East Animal Hospital. Cathy enjoyed trips to the beach, fishing, reading and watching game shows. She is survived by her husband of 14 years: Barry A. York; daughters, Casey and Maggie York of the home; parents, Eddie and Elaine (Teague) Gaines of Siler City; one sister: Allison Gaines of Goldston; mother-in-law, Linda Manning (Wayne) of Staley; father-in-law, Ray York of Staley; grandmother-in-law, Marjorie York of Staley, brothers-in-law, Joseph York of Holden Beach; Josh York (Kara Beal) of Staley. The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 6, 2016 from 6:30-8:30 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC and other times at the family home. The funeral will be Thursday, July 7, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Rocky River Baptist Church, 4436 Siler City-Snow Camp Road, Siler City with Rev. Dr. Greg W. Burriss officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
