Cathren Moore Brooks, 83, of Old Plank Road, Siler City died Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at Coventry House of Siler City.
Mrs. Brooks was born in Chatham County on December 15, 1931 the daughter of Graham and Bertha Ida (Snipes) Moore. Cathren was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Siler City, where she had served as the secretary of the Joyner-Brewer Sunday School Class. She had worked at A J Schneirson and as substitute rural mail carrier and she was a homemaker. She was a talented cook, seamstress, gardener, and artisan in various crafts. Cathren had received the Silver Fawn Award for her service as a Cub Scout Den Mother and was a charter member of the Siler City Squares.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years: James B. "Jimmy" Brooks; daughter: Judy Brooks Hinshaw and husband, Roger of Siler City, NC; sons: James Dennis Brooks and wife, Diane of Siler City, NC, Lonnie I. Brooks of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Brooks and Joy Hinshaw, Denise Brooks , Jeb Brooks and wife, Danielle.
The family will receive friends Thursday, October 29, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. The funeral will be Friday, October 30, 2015 at 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church, 1101 West Raleigh Street, Siler City with Rev. Clyde Denny and Rev. Greg Burriss officiating. Burial will follow in Chatham Memorial Park, Siler City.
