Carl Ford Smith

Carl Ford Smith, 76, of Goldston passed away on Friday, November 20, 2020 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC. Mr. Smith was born February 6, 1944 the son of Carl B. and Hazel Ford Smith. Carl was an avid lover of cars whether it be racing cars, street rods or just older model cars. He loved spending time watching sports. He spent his working years as a shop foreman for Welford Harris and retired from Chatham Motors. In addition to his parents, Carl is preceded in death by his sister Joyce Smith. He is survived by his wife of 50 years; Gayle (Beal) Smith, son; Jay Smith of Sanford, sister; Carla Martin and husband Gray of Cameron, grandchildren; Jordan, Jackson and Allie, sisters in law; Treva Seagroves and husband Larry, and Phyllis Gunter and husband Ray, brothers in law; R.G. Beal and wife Diane, and Ray Beal and wife Eva, and his beloved canine companion, Pippen.
