Brenda Phillips Powell, 74, of Siler City died Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro. Mrs. Powell was born in Chatham County on April 19, 1941 the daughter of Emmitt and Myrtle (Jeffries) Phillips. She was retired from Red Lobster as a waitress and a member of the First Baptist Church of Siler City. Brenda enjoyed watching all television sports. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Powell; her parents; brother, Jimmy Phillips and sister, Joyce P. Lindley. She is survived by one son: Doug Powell and wife, Diane of Randleman, NC; five sisters: Doris Hammer of Siler City, NC, Barbara Petty of Burlington, NC, Becky Hudson of Siler City, NC, Jenny Brewer of Siler City, NC, Deborah Gass of Little River, SC; grandchildren, Jordan Curry Powell, Ryan Christian Powell, Heather Anderson; great-grandchildren, Carley Anderson, Logan Anderson and several nieces and nephews. A graveside memorial service will be Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Chatham Memorial Park, 13260 Hwy 64 West, Siler City with Chaplain, Shelly Dial officiating. Memorials may be made to Community Home Care & Hospice, 108 Village Lake Road, Siler City, NC 27344. Smith & Buckner Funeral Home is assisting the family.
