Brenda Joyce Goins Woody, 68, of Goldston went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 7th after her courageous battle of cancer. Brenda was born in Lee County on August 4, 1949 to Joe Ben and Leona Goins. Brenda was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church and was a loving wife, mother and “nannie” and always placed everyone above herself. She is survived by her husband of 45 years Wayne Woody; two daughters, Ashley Webster and husband, Jeremy and Amy Woody all of Goldston; two granddaughters Hadley Webster and Haley Woody; two sisters, Rachel Bayes and husband, Keave of Sanford, Becky Young and husband, Earl of Princeton; brothers, Ronnie Goins and Bobby Goins both of Sanford and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kim; parents and a brother, Bennie Goins. The family will receive friends Thursday, May 10, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City and at other times at the home of Ashley Webster, 2302 Goldston-Carbonton Road, Goldston. The funeral will be Friday, May 11, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 396 NC Hwy 42, Goldston officiated by Rev. Walter Jones, Rev. Mike Garner and Rev. Rick Miller. Burial will follow in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, 3835 Bonlee-Carbonton Road, Goldston. The family would like to thank Sanford Hematology and Oncology for the outpouring of love and support they provided to her during her 14 year battle with cancer; and a special thank you to Beth Elkins for taking exceptional care of her while she was at home.
