Bobby Jonah Fields, 57, of Goldston died Monday, August 7, 2017 in a house fire.
Mr. Fields was born in Chatham County on September 29, 1959 the son of Clarence Captain and Dorothy Estelle (Woody) Fields. Bobby was an Army vetern, a 1977graduate of Chatham Central High School and attended Central Carolina Community College. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church where he had formerly taught a Men's Sunday School Class. Bobby was a people person, never met a stranger, and always giving to others. He enjoyed time spent with his family, fishing, raising goats and hunting.
Bobby is survived by two sisters: Dorothy Sue Fields Hinshaw and husband, Kirt of Thomasville, and Cathy Ann Fields Arnold of Greensboro; nieces and nephew, Wendy Hefner, Jessica Arnold, and Hunter Hinshaw; three great nieces and one great nephew; Beloved Canine Companion, Bubba.
The family will receive friends Saturday, August 19, 2017 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Antioch Baptist Church, 3835 Bonlee-Carbonton Road, Goldston. The funeral will follow Saturday at 2:00 PM with Rev. Barry Lawrence officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military rites by the Randolph County Honor Guard. The family request casual dress.
