Blake Byron Teague passed away Monday morning, September 24, 2012, at his home in Chatham County. He was born September 26, 1926 to Lonnie David and Pearl Buckner Teague. He was a 1943 graduate of Silk Hope High School, a member of Rocky River Baptist Church, and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. His career as a transport driver included Bison Fast Freight, Gulf Oil Corporation, and BP Oil Company, from which he retired.
He was predeceased by his parents, his brothers Ervin, Kefton, and Elroy Teague, his infant brother Jerry, and his son-in-law Ray O'Brien. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Janette Smith Teague, daughters Nancy Teague and husband Tommy of Greensboro, and Carol O'Brien of Siler City; sons Bobby Teague and wife Patricia of Southern Pines, Tommy Teague and wife Kim of Albuquerque, NM, Pete Teague and wife Debbie of Salisbury, and Charlie Teague and wife Julie of Siler City. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and four step great-grandchildren; one brother Clyde Teague and wife Alice Sue of Siler City, and one sister, Esther Teague Siler and husband Hal of Sanford.
A memorial service for Blake will be held on Thursday afternoon, September 27, at 4:00 pm at Rocky River Baptist Church, 4436 Siler City-Snow Camp Road. The family will receive visitors in the church fellowship building following the service until 7:00 pm.
