Bidney Winter Dixon

Bidney Winter Dixon, 88, of Northridge, CA passed away October 3, 2013. Miss Dixon was born April 28, 1925 in Madison, NC. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. H.C. Dixon; a brother and sister-in-law, Dick and Betty Dixon; and a sister, Caryl DuPlessis. She is survived by her brother-in-law, Bernard DuPlessis, Jr. of Pennsylvania. She is also survived by nephews Buzz Dixon and wife Soon-ok of Santa Clarita, CA; Rikk Dixon of Asheville; Robert Dixon and wife Kim of Winston-Salem; Bernard DuPlessis, III and wife Leslie of Newark, DE; Anne Darrouzet and husband Michael of Dallas, TX; Jim DuPlessis of Columbia, SC; Thomas DuPlessis and wife Linda of Pittsburgh, PA; and David DuPlessis and wife Edie of Newark, DE.
She is also survived by grand nieces and nephews Yang-Mi, Heather (and husband Bobby), Kristy, Amber, Lyle, Laura, Luke (and wife Amanda), Lindsey, Steven, Kathryn, Julia, Lauren Darrouzet, Elisabeth, Melanie, James, Leah (and husband Jonathan), Robert (and wife Donna), Mathew, Michael, Lauren DuPlessis, Allison and Ryan as well as a great-grand-niece and great-grand-nephews: Ronan, Skyler, Harvey, Lily, Davin, and Conner along with many cousins and other extended family members.
Miss Dixon was a graduate of Blue Mountain College in Mississippi. In 1977 she was recognized as the Woman of the Year by the Dolly Madison Chapter of the American Business Women Association. Through the years she worked as a book keeper for the Boy Scouts, First Baptist Church of Greensboro, Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home and an industrial motion picture production company. She eased into retirement while working as a sales clerk for Mrs. See's Candy where many patrons thought of her as Mrs. See.
In recent years she was instrumental in leading Morehead Memorial Hospital of Eden to recognize her late father's integral contribution to helping start Tri-City Hospital which was the predecessor of Morehead Memorial.
Miss Dixon loved to travel and visited several countries and countless states in her lifetime, often sharing her experiences with friends and family members.
A follower of Jesus Christ, Miss Dixon was a Baptist and a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Greensboro. She was a faithful and compassionate daughter who cared for her widowed mother for most of her life. She was a loving and generous sister and aunt who will be greatly missed.
A graveside service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Siler City on Thursday, October 17 at 2:00 pm. Local arrangements are being provided by Smith and Buckner Funeral Home there.
