Betty Smith Brooks, 84, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 15, 2015. She was a native of Chatham County and retired from Glendale Hosiery. Betty enjoyed gardening, bird watching, and spending time with her family, three cats, and her special canine companion, Dolly. She is preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Gertrude Smith; her husband, George (Bob) R. Brooks; two brothers, Clifford and John Willard Smith; and two sisters, Rachel Holliday and Willia Mae Love. She is survived by her sister, Hilda Deaton of Durham; three special nieces, Cindy Reid, Denise Scott, and Karen Hodge; and many other nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Friday, July 17, 2015 from 10:30 - 11:00 AM at Fellowship Baptist Church, 120 Fellowship Church Road, Siler City, NC. A graveside service will follow at 11:00 AM with Rev. Jason Golden and Rev. Bob Griffith officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 120 Fellowship Church Road, Siler City, NC 27344. Smith & Buckner Funeral Home is assisting the family.
