Betty Lois Hicks Brown

Betty Hicks Brown, 88, of Staley died Wednesday, December 12, 2018.

Mrs. Brown was born in Randolph County on January 19, 1930 the daughter of Doctor Franklin and Dillie (McDaniel) Hicks. Betty had been employed by Walker Shoe Company. She was an active member of Moons Chapel Baptist Church, having been a member of the choir, a member of the Senior Men's and Ladies Sunday School Class and served as church clerk for many years. Betty enjoyed growing flowers and often created floral arrangements. She also enjoyed traveling, sewing and time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, "the apple of her eye".

She was preceded in death by her husband, Burtice A. Brown; her parents; brothers, Hillary, Eugene, Ernest, Paul and Denver Hicks; sisters, Maxine VonCannon, Marzell Foust, Dorothy Doss, and Sue Hicks and an infant boy. She is survived by son: Rev. Bruce A. Brown and wife, Donna of Graham; grandchildren, Matthew Brown and wife, Caitlin of Snow Camp, Rebecca Brown and Emily Brown of Graham.

The family will receive friends Monday, December 17, 2018 from 1:00-2:00 PM prior to funeral service in the Fellowship Hall at Moon's Chapel Baptist Church, 175 Moons Chapel Road, Siler City. The funeral will follow Monday at 2:00 PM at Moon's Chapel Baptist Church with Dr. Patrick Fuller, Rev. Scott Faw, and Rev. Bruce A. Brown officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
