Bernie Harrison, 68, of Will Brown Road, Siler City died Monday, March 18, 2013 at his residence. Mr. Harrison was a native of North Carolina, born February 2, 1945, the son of Melda (Greene) Martin. He attended New Port News Ship Building & Dry Dock School and NC State University. He was employed as a pipe design engineer with General Electric in the nuclear division, and was a member of the "Blue Hairs" that traveled the world retro-fitting nuclear power facilities. He enjoyed wood working as well as cooking breakfast for the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church Women's Organization in Pino, NC. Bernie was an avid NC State fan. He was preceded in death by his mother and a sister, Olivia Fowler. He is survived by his fiancée, Nancy Collette; daughter: Karen Hinsley and husband, Dave; son, Brian Harrison; grandchildren, Zack Felton, Hunter Harrison and Jessie Anderson. A memorial service will be held Friday, March 22, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Hickory Grove United Methodist Church, 10085 Silk Hope-Liberty Road, Siler City, where he was a member, with Rev. Tom Hallberg officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Richmond County Humane Society, P O Box 2064, Rockingham, NC 28383 or the Hickory Grove United Methodist Church.
