Barbara Lemons Elmore, 84, Siler City died Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Siler City Center.
Mrs. Elmore was born in Chatham County on October 22, 1932, the daughter of Milton and Lena Covert Lemons. She was retired from Glendale Hosiery and was a member of Mount Vernon United Methodist Church, where she taught the Children Sunday School Class and the Youth Group. Barbara loved horseback riding especially in the mountains and going to the beach with her sisters. She enjoyed gardening, canning, and was a devoted UNC Tar Heel fan. Barbara loved her grandchildren and spending time with them. Mrs. Elmore was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters, Johnny Lemons and his wife, Mildred, Alma Smith, Mozelle Clark, Doyle Lemons and his wife, Dot and Wilson Lemons.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years: William Curtis Elmore; daughter: Sandra E. Siler and husband, Billy of Siler City; son: Randy Elmore of Siler City; brother: Hoyle Lemons and wife, Kathleen of Bonlee; grandchildren, Jessica Elmore, Amy Hayes and Emily Armstrong and husband, Kevin; great-grandchildren, Hayley and Madison Hayes, Chloe Page and Nicholas Armstrong; and a great-granddaughter that will be born in August; sister-in-law; Wilma Lemons and brother-in-law; Harold Smith; brother and sisters-in-law; Earl and Vera Elmore and Virginia Elmore; along with many nieces and nephews who have been very supportive during Barbara's illness.
The family will receive friends Monday, April 3, 2017 from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Chatham Memorial Park, 13260 Hwy 64 West, Siler City with Rev. Jason Dickerson officiating.
