Annie Ruth Garner Ziglar

Annie Ruth Garner Ziglar, 92, of 260 Village Lake Road, Siler City died Thursday, January 26, 2012 at Coventry House Of Siler City. Mrs. Ziglar was born in Lee County, NC on February 26, 1919 the daughter of Efland and Sarah (Maness) Garner. Mrs. Ziglar was formerly of Newport News, Virginia and a member of Noland Memorial United Methodist Church. She was the first woman assigned as payroll clerk for the Newport News ship yard, a position she held for over forty years. Ruth was a sports fan and enjoyed playing golf. She also enjoyed reading. She was preceded in death in 1999 by her husband, Phil F. Ziglar and a brother, Efland Garner, Jr. She is survived by of one sister: Virginia Lupton of Siler City, NC; nieces and nephews, Rennee' Fields and husband, Steve, Mitchell Gurley and wife, Cindy, Keith Gurley, Amanda Gurley, Amber Teague and husband, Jeff and special friend, Florence Turner and husband, Charles. A memorial service is planned for Tuesday, January 31, 2012 in Newport News, Virginia. Smith & Buckner is assisting the family with local arrangements.
