Alice Hilliard Gilliland Hammer

Alice Hilliard Gilliland Hammer, 99, of Goldston, a former resident of Ramseur, died Friday, January 9, 2015 at Sanford Health & Rehab, Sanford. Mrs. Hammer was born in Goldston on February 4, 1915 the daughter of Bernice and Lucy (Gaines) Hilliard. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church, retired from Klopman's in Ramseur after 40 years of service. Alice enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting, working with her flower gardens and traveling. She was preceded in death by her husband, Romie Hammer; son, Ronald Gilliland; her parents; and a brother, Everette Hilliard. She is survived by one daughter: Vivian G. Petty of Richmond, VA; two sons: J. B. Gilliland and wife, Jackie, Lionel Gilliland and wife, Camilla all of Goldston, NC; daughter-in-law, Augusta Gilliland of Goldston; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Monday, January 12, 2015 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at Antioch Baptist Church, 3825 Bonlee-Carbonton Road, Goldston, NC and at other times at the home of her son, J. B. Gilliland. The funeral will be Monday, January 12, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Garner officiating. Burial will follow in Gaines Grove Cemetery, Goldston.
