Alice Dowd Fox

Alice Dowd Fox, 75, of Rufus Brewer Road, Siler City died Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at her residence. Mrs. Fox was born in Chatham County on November 20, 1939 the daughter of William Frank and Carrie Lee (Beal) Dowd. Alice was a homemaker, a member of Rives Chapel Baptist Church and the Cora Mae Elkins Sunday School Class. She was a loving person who was a caregiver for her parents and children. She enjoyed cooking and trips to the mountains or the beach. Alice was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Linda Groce and nephew, Kenny Elixson. She is survived by her husband of 50 years: John Gilbert Fox; daughters: Legina C. Emerson and husband, Gary of Bear Creek, NC, Kathy F. Fowler and husband, Tony of Siler City, NC; sister: Gail D. Henderson of Ramseur, NC; grandchildren, John and James Emerson, Logan and Trevor Moody. The family will receive friends Friday, February 27, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. The funeral will be Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Rives Chapel Baptist Church, 4338 Rives Chapel Church Road, Siler City with Rev. Tripp Foltz and Rev. Perry Brown officiating.
