Albert Dalton Gordon, Jr.

Albert D. Gordon, Jr. 87, of 646 McLaurin Road, Siler City died Friday, December 2, 2011 at Central Carolina Hospital, Sanford. Mr. Gordon was born May 22, 1924 the son of Albert Dalton and Cora Lee (Bailey) Gordon. Mr. Gordon was born in Litton, Mississippi and was a career officer in the United States Air Force. He was very proud of his military career, having served in Germany, Vietnam and Korea. Albert had also worked as the grounds keeper for 17 years at Wood Lake Golf Course in Vass, NC. He enjoyed dancing and watching western shows. He loved people and watching squirrels and other wildlife. Albert was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Dalton and Cora Lee Bailey Gordon; brothers, Gene and Frank Gordon. He is survived by his wife of 33 years: Thelma (Craig) Gordon; two sisters: Opal Whatley of Florence, MS, Mildred Smith of Coldwater, MS and one brother: Raymond Gordon of Cleveland, MS; step-daughters, Diane Brooks and husband, Mike of Sanford, NC, Nancy Harris and husband, Larry of Siler City, NC; five step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren and a special caregiver, Rosita Reaves The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 6, 2011 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Meroney United Methodist Church, 10568 NC Hwy 902, Bear Creek, NC. The funeral will be Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Meroney United Methodist Church, 10568 NC Hwy 902, Bear Creek with Rev. Jim Whittaker officiating.
