John Calvin Williams, 85, of Zion Church Road, Staley died Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.
Mr. Williams was born May 2, 1930 in Randolph County the son of Vernon Rufus and Floy (Pike) Williams. Calvin was an Army Veteran, serving in the Korean Conflict, a member of the First Baptist Church of Siler City and the L. L. Bradley Sunday School Class. He was self-employed in trucking and farming.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years: Bera "Bea"(Edwards) Williams, two daughters: Carol Davis and husband, Bob of Chattanooga, TN, Sue Scotton and husband, Bill; one son: Ed "Punchy" Williams and wife, Martha both of Staley, NC; grandchildren, Christopher Williams and wife, Leslie of Siler City, NC, Zach and Katie Scotton, Andrew Williams all of Staley, NC; great-grandchildren, Gavin Crumpler, Gabriella, Graciana and Granton Williams of Siler City, NC; step-grandchildren, Bo Davis and wife, Ruth of High Point, NC, Beth Stefanko and husband, Mike of Midlothian, VA; step-great-grandchildren, Rob and Riley Davis of High Point, NC, Logan and Garrett Stefanko of Midlothian, VA; sister-in-law, Gwen Churchwell of Siler City, NC.
The family will receive friends Saturday, May 16, 2015 from 1:00-3:00 pm at First Baptist Church, 314 N. 2nd Ave., Siler City, NC and other times at the family home. The funeral will be Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 3:00 PM at First Baptist Church, Siler City with Rev. Jimmy Hill officiating. Burial will follow in Staley Cemetery.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff of Five West and the Palliative Unit of Moses Cone Hospital and Dr. Bryon Hoffman of Siler City.
