Charles Lewis "Pick" Dowdy

Charles "Pick" Lewis Dowdy, 77, of Siler City died Thursday, December 27, 2018 at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill.

Mr. Dowdy was born in Chatham County on July 6, 1941 the son of Lizzie Lois Dowdy. He was a member of Brookdale Baptist Church where he worked with the youth and taught Sunday School and was a member of Gideons International. He had worked with Golden State Foods for 27 years.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years: Julia (Lovings) Dowdy; sons: Billy Eugene Dowdy and wife, Amy of Bennett and Michael L. Dowdy and wife, Jennifer of Bear Creek; sister: Mary Lois D. Oldham and husband, Charlie of Bear Creek; brother: James Earl Dowdy and wife, Patricia of Bear Creek; grandchildren, Wyatt, Savannah, Isaac and Owen Dowdy; special brothers-in-law, David Lovings and Steve Lovings and wife, Jane.

The family will receive friends Saturday, December 29, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. The funeral will be Sunday, December 30, 2018 at 3:00 PM at Brookdale Baptist Church, 1133 West Third Street, Siler City with Rev. Rob Roberts, Rev. Clark Davis, and Rev. Jim Whittaker officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Siler City. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to  ComFor Care and I Am Unique for the loving care and support extended to them.
